Huichol Beaded Brooch

Description: In this class you will learn the basic technique of Huichol Beading while making a beaded brooch you can wear. Everyone who takes my classes will have a chance to win a special raffle held in each class!

Where's My Wife?

Description: Cardinals generally travel together but the female is often hard to find. Using a prepared gourd we will seal the inside with decoupage or paint. A female cardinal will be traced, wood burned and color added. Flowers will be added and colored. A stem will be attached with the male cardinal looking for his partner.

Students Must Bring: If students have their own Dremel or Carving device please bring. I have several to share but maybe not enough. If you have a wood burner, please bring.

Flat Reed Fun Basket

Description: This is a gourd with spokes in the gourd, painted on the inside and sealed on the outside, ready to weave. The student will receive reed and instruction to make a colorful basket.

Sunflower Vase

Description: Join Sue and learn how to carve this sweet little Sunflower Gourd vase. Only 6" tall but mighty and spectacular. This is an easy carve but in case you don't finish, you will have the basics and will be able to finish at home. You must be able to use a carver and have had some experience using it.

Students Must Provide: Carver; Medium ball burr (but bring a range of ball burrs); Eye protection; Fine sand paper or riffler files; 1/4"-1/2" brush; water container; paper towels; Xacto knife; extension cord/power strip.

Reversible Gourd Pendant

Description: In this class you will create a unique wood burned gourd pendant all your own using both sides of the gourd shard. We will use alcohol inks to add a gentle color then finish with beading and macrame as time allows. We will have opportunity to do a crackle technique as well.​

Students Must Provide: Instructor will have everything you need including simple wood burners. If you have a favorite wood burner bring it along.

Spotty Dotty Beaded Necklace

Description: Students will learn to apply a dotting technique on a tiny gourd, creating colorful layers using alcohol ink. The gourd will then become the focal point of a necklace utilizing beads made from metal, stone, and other materials.

Birdhouse

Description: Students will be supplied with a birdhouse, already base coated so you can spend a lot of time decorating. I will be showing you a lot of little techniques for special textures and effect. Go with the charming little house, or paint a barn or lighthouse. You will also get a print out with lots of ideas for doors, windows, flowers and more. Painted birdhouses are decorative to hang indoors or on a covered porch. I will have all of the patterns, paints, sprays and some little extras to finish off your birdhouse.

Students Must Provide: Students should bring your favorite brushes, paper towels, water containers, and an apron.
