Mosaic Tile Gourd

Description: Learn to use gourd shards as mosaic tiles! The tiles are pre-cut and pre-carved due to time constraints. Students will design and carve the top design on the pre-dyed gourd before adhering tiles. Line-work and beads complete the main gourd. Assembly of the lid is next adding a drawer pull to the top of the lid. Finishing touches are added with dried botanicals and of course more beads!

Students Must Bring: a carver and assorted ball burs. A wood burner is optional

Doodle Art

Description: Creating a small piece of art by use of black and white patterns. We will start with a prepared gourd that has been painted white then add designs and patterns to make a theme. Additional patterns will be added to fill in the surrounding space.

Simply Woven Basket

Description: The gourd base will be painted and prepped with spokes in-ready for you to weave. You will have a choice of a few colors to make your basket and learn to weave three rod wale. This is a fun relaxing weave and the result is a useful product you will be proud of.

Students Must Bring: An apron and a towel. Tools will be provided, but if you want to bring your own, please do.

From Igba to Sekere
